When obedience costs more than expected

Faith grows through hearing the word of Christ.

When obedience costs more than expected. It is easy to sound spiritual until this is the thing sitting in front of you. Sometimes the breakthrough is not a dramatic change in circumstances. Sometimes it is catching the old pattern before you obey it again. Christian faith is not confidence in your own ability to stay strong. It is trust in Jesus Christ, crucified and risen, when your feelings are inconsistent. Let truth interrupt the reflex before the reflex becomes another chapter.

What are you trying to control because you are afraid to trust God with the outcome?

Jesus Christ, show me what is true in this situation and expose the story I have added to it. Give me wisdom for my part, courage to obey You, and enough trust to leave the outcome in Your hands. Amen.
